Personal device ECG recording technology has come leaps and bounds, and high quality recordings are now readily available on demand. Popular devices on the market include Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy watch, AliveCor, and EMAY.
Limitations of AI analysis
Personal ECG recording devices often also include an AI analysis of the data. There can be limitations to both the scope and accuracy. Moreover, many of us can be left with this wondering if it needs to be seen by a Doctor and clinically actioned.
A note on Electrocardiograms (ECG)
An ECG is a picture of the electrical signals of the heart, and are used to look for conditions such as a heart beat that is too slow (eg heart block), or too fast (eg atrial fibrillation).
It is not used for conditions such as a stroke, blood clots or heart attacks.
